Kudos to Emerson, Kailua and Richard for their hard work preparing these events!
On Sunday May 30 at 5:00 pm, we will celebrate Connor's and Janine's Graduation! Stay tune for more details!
As most of you have already earned your Advanced level Certificate of Merit from MTAC, and in such an unusual year, we only have two students participated in the exam! Both of them have received State Honors. In addition, Eugene received 100% in his theory test, and Richard is selected to proceed to Panel Final. Congratulations to both of their hard work and we wish Richard the best luck!
Let me "read" to you, from a picture book I bought many years ago, by Chief Jake Swamp. Read to the end, there I give my thanks to you, too~
"To be a human being is an honor, and we offer thanksgiving for all the gifts of life. Mother Earth, we thank you for giving us everything we need. Thank you, good foods from Mother Earth, our life sustainers, for making us happy when we are hungry. Fruits and berries, we thank you for your color and sweetness. We are all thankful to good medicine herbs, for healing us when we are sick. Thank you, all the animals in the world, for keeping our precious forests clean. All the trees in the world, we are thankful for the shade and warmth you give us. Thank you, all the birds in the world, for singing your beautiful songs for all to enjoy. We give thanks to you, gentle Four Winds, for bringing clean air for us to breathe from the four directions. Thank you, Grandfather Thunder Beings, for bringing rains to help all living things grow. Elder Brother Sun, we send thanks for shining your light and warming Mother Earth. Thank you, Grandmother Moon, for growing full every month to light the darkness for children and sparkling waters. We give you thanks, twinkling stars, for making the night sky so beautiful and for sprinkling morning dew drops on the plants. Spirit Protectors of our past and present, we thank you for showing us ways to live in peace and harmony with one another. And most of all, thank you, Great Spirit, for giving us all these wonderful gifts, so we will be happy and healthy every day and every night." I thank all of the composers for all of the amazing gifts they have prepared for us. And of course I thank all of you for unwrapping the gifts, making my mind and the world beautiful and harmonious. Listen, move and dance. Don't you love Baroque music? Yes they are centuries old; but probably because of that, they bring you comfort and hope. Enjoy. You will love playing your Bach pieces even more! Studio Recital
Check out the Studio Recital 2020-2021 page where we will be showcasing videos of your performances in two recitals! For FALL RECITAL, please submit one video before and on December 24. For WINTER RECITAL, please submit another video between December 25 and March 20. Guidelines
How fun if you rode like that while playing your pieces... “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.” ― A.A. Milne, in Winnie the Pooh The more performance classes you go for, the braver, stronger and smarter you will be! And I'll always be with you... Hey yes, believe in yourself! Seeing, hearing and talking with each of you through the little square window week after week, it feels to me that we are all still together. I even enjoyed a couple of pleasant surprise when a family member of yours walking by that small window. It's quite comforting to know that you are all doing fine and are playing music. I hope the music you create comforts you. WELCOME to a new academic year, when we learn to try new ways to keep everything flow happily together! And welcome to the brand new studio website! Instead of traditional recital, the thought of virtually showcasing your performances in this special year gave me a courage to try bringing this very old studio onto the internet for the very first time. Let's have fun exploring the new possibilities. Most pages are still finalizing but I would appreciate if you can please check out the studio upcoming activities on this "Studio News" page from time to time. I wish everyone a great start. We will all stay happy and healthy! Current students, please don't forget to review your role as a piano student and submit the form before end of August. Information regarding to the upcoming performance classes and about our new form of studio recital---the virtual showcase will be coming shortly! |
